HU- Hashemite Univ. (Jordan)

Hashemite University (HU) will be responsible for collecting
algae strains from different ecosystems in Jordan including:
Dead sea, Red sea, Jordan arid lands, Dams, and other
saline areas. Several laboratory analyses will be carried out
in different seasons with variable salinity accumulation,
solar radiation and CO2 emission. This analysis will be complete
by selecting different ponds on the Zarqa River. All
which are located in heavily industrialized areas. Air pollution,
solar radiation and water analysis will be measured
weekly during algae protoplast cultivation. Preparation of
protoplast by enzymatic method and other biotechnological
procedures will be investigated in different macro-algae
isolates. These are preliminary studies for macro algae cultivation
in Sicily. HU will be involved in website preparation,
publication and study tours.
